Freelance teacher agreement
Cheeky English (the company):
• The role of the company is firstly as an intermediary between client and teacher. The company assists both
clients and teachers in finding good matches for private classes. This service is provided free of charge.
Secondly, the company provides ongoing support, resources and training for the teacher which incurs an
hourly fee from the teacher. The support and training fees are charged at the end of each month. Invoices
are available on request.
The freelance teacher:
• The teacher’s role is to provide a freelance teaching service to their clients/students. The teacher
understands they are responsible for collecting payments from their clients. This can be done on a daily,
weekly or monthly basis according to the teacher-client agreement. Teachers understand that, as self employed entities, they are personally responsible for satisfying all legal procedures in terms of tax
payments and any other requirements related to their freelance activity.
The client/student
• The client’s role is that of any customer and should enter into an agreement with the teacher to establish
the terms of the service. The company suggests the use (or adaptation) of their standard policy on class
cancelations in order to avoid misunderstandings.
Process
• Step 1. The freelance teacher will be contacted by the company regarding a potential class.
• Step 2. If accepted, the teacher will be put in contact with the client. A whatsapp group will be established in
order to organise timetables, location and class objectives. The company can also share any relevant
resources for the class.
• Step 3. The teacher will undergo training in order to be properly prepared for the course.
• Step 4. Following each class, the teacher will enter a timestamp into their timesheet to record the class and
calculate fees.
• Step 5. At the end of each month the company bills the teacher for the support and training fee.
Safeguarding
Teachers appreciate the free matching service they benefit from and agree to subscribe to the support and
training service for the full duration of their work with the client. In the case of being unable to continue classes,
the teacher agrees to give proper notice and allow the company to assign a different teacher to the client. If the
teacher wishes to assign another teacher, they agree to do so through the channel provided by the company.
Support and training service
The freelance teacher agrees to subscribe to the support and training service offered by the company. The cost
is generally 5 euros per hour but may vary depending on the type of class or training required. The service
includes initial training and orientation, free access to resources, ongoing support and access to the
free matching service.
